Hello Elizabeth. Are the dates for the Oxford group confirmed as the schedule? All the best for your last leg! Love from M

    • I have to apologise: the Oxford trip had to be brought forward a week to fit in with Brize Norton and I had a difficult job organising all those airfields and my accommodation in between the previous two trips. In the frantic activity I forgot to update the schedule on here. I visited my last airfield, RAF Brize Norton, on Saturday 5th and have therefore just finished my Where They Served tour. Just coming to terms with the fact!

Please don’t apologise – I should have realised that was the case from your blog on Sunday – bit of an uncoordinated moment there. Sorry to have missed you but reading your travel tales has been inspirational. Thank you – an absolutely brilliant job.

What & where is Meet BJW’s Tiger Moth on July 6-7?

    • That would be great, Dinah. BJW’s Tiger Moth belongs to an aviator in Suffolk, and is one of the very planes in which Dad learned to fly in 1940 – it’s listed in his log book. The plane is still airworthy and spent much of its life working for the Royal Navy; in fact it was the last biplane to land on an aircraft carrier. I was hoping to meet the plane and its owner at Pre-War Prescott classic car event earlier this year, but high winds and thunderstorms put paid to that. I am hoping that we can meet up next year instead – the dates are still to be confirmed. For more on the Tiger Moth, including a recent photograph see: https://wheretheyserved.com/2014/07/21/prescott-tiger-moth-disappointment/
